Patheological Weddingsday – Leithart on Purity and Holiness

Leithart’s first article about Purity and Holiness was deleted from Patheos!

Readership: Christians;

A few weeks ago, I found that Dr. Peter Leithart wrote three articles about Purity at Patheos. These are listed below.

  1. Patheos (Peter Leithart): Myths of Purity (2017 October 12)
  2. Patheos (Peter Leithart): Purity and Holiness 1 (2017 October)
  3. Patheos (Peter Leithart): Purity and Holiness 2 (2017 October 7)

I had planned to critique these three articles as a series, but since I published the first one, Leithart’s Myths of Purity (2020 October 28), something interesting has happened.

The second article above was wiped clean from Patheos!

Leithart’s Purity and Holiness doesn’t exist!

I didn’t bother to copy the text or take any screenshots, but the third article seems different from when I read it earlier.  I remember that it was written in an editorial format.  But now it is a rigorous exegesis of Old Testament passages about purity.  It’s actually pretty well written, so I won’t bother to review it.

However, I can’t help but wonder…  Whatever happened to the second post?

I can only suppose that Leithart or someone at Patheos had read my critique and decided to revise these articles.  Anyway, I’m glad to see that there has been a responsible response.

    Oh no, Jack! Are you becoming an “influencer”? 😉
